Our Programs
English Classes
Dwell Mobile’s English Classes equip resettled refugees and other immigrants with a network of relationships and practical skills needed to build a successful life in America. In addition to English, subject-focused groups including Citizenship, Driving, and GED are available for participants as needed.
Schedule
Mondays & Wednesdays: 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
Tuesdays & Thursdays: 10:00 AM - 11:15 AM
Passport to Literacy
Passport to Literacy is a tutoring program that promotes literacy among the 1st through 12th grade children of resettled refugee and immigrant families. Students spend an hour once a week working with tutors on a variety of English Language Art skills using materials provided. Attendance at the weekly tutoring sessions is incentivized by membership on Dwell's soccer team. Passport is a 12-week program that runs in both the fall and spring of each year.
Special Events
Dwell Mobile hosts a variety of special events such as picnics, cultural nights and other fun ways to gather throughout the year. A special event is a great place to begin volunteering with Dwell if you are unavailable to help at a weekly program. These events do not require the same volunteer commitment level as the English Classes or Passport to Literacy.
Food Distribution
Dwell Mobile partners with “Feeding the Gulf Coast” to organize a free food drive on the third Saturday of every month to provide assistance to individuals in need within the community. Distribution begins between 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM on the following dates in 2024.
